ZWO 1600MC Rarity

Hi All

Hope all doing well
As title indicates I’m wondering of the rarity of the ZWO 1600MC?
I realise they stopped producing these cameras several years ago.
I actually own one that I purchased second hand about 2-3 years ago & I really enjoy using it
I have a friend that would also like to purchase one, but we have not been able to source one here on Iceinspace or even over in US on Cloud Free Nights.
This has then lead me to ask the question how few of these cameras were actually made?
I don’t think I will get a definitive answer but just thought I would throw it out here see if anyone may have some information
Cheers
Ben

the 294mc pro is a better and updated camera why not purchase that model? It produces similar sized images to the 1600mc

Hi Ben,

Yes they seem quite few and far between in the classifieds here with only 2 or 3 listed as sold with several previously sought.

For what it's worth the ZWO 1600MC reportedly uses the same sensor as the Panasonic G7 mirrorless camera, but the G7 probably uses a different (narrower & possibly steeper) UV/IR filter to limit the infrared response and thereby likely limit the Hydrogen-Alpha response. It would be good to test as it may still be OK: who knows?

Good luck in the hunt.

Best
JA

G’day Russell

Yes I agree with not giving up the camera.
My friend has asked several times if I would sell to them but I’m not letting it go

Thanks

Hahah I have a Zwo 1600MC for awhile that I don't use and happy to sell.

It is slightly scatched on the metal shell and non cooled version.

I am still on the hunt for a ZWO1600MC-C (cooled version)

Unfortunately the one below was a non-cooled version

It really is a unicorn Ben!
