Orion AZ/EQ-G for sale

Hi all,
I'm continuing to clean out the clutter and rationalise. So, I am selling my upgraded Orion AZ/EQ-G. It has been upgraded to replace the RJ connector to a USB that runs so much faster. Worked a treat with the ASIAIR.
Mount, tripod, two weights, weight bar extension, hand controller and Polemaster (Ihasve never used the Polemaster as I love SharpCap Pro and more recently the ASIAIR PRO).

FULL DISCLOSURE: I've never really liked this mount and have not had the success I had with my favourite NEQ6-Pro.Not sure if it is me or the mount.

Happy to deliver with 100km of Sydney. Realistically priced at $1800.
Regards
Geoff

Hi Geoff, I might be interested.

Approximately what age is this?

And the hand controller, is it USB-B, mini USB or ?

You say you've never been that happy, is that due to noise, initial alignment, or errors in tracking?

Cheers,
Rob

Hi Rob

The mount was one of the first Orion Atlas AZEQ-Gs to the country from BINTEL, so about 7 years as far as I recall. As for the hand controller it is the RJ connector. The port should be visible in the Skywatcher plate near the USB port.

Why don't I like it? Here are two graphs of PHD2 guiding, one for the NEQ6-Pro and one for the Orion. I've never been able to get the guiding as smooth with this one, I do not know why. If you look it doesn't even show the error averaged in seconds of arc, just pixels. Alignment is great as is goto.

I used it for this image of Eta recently using the ASIAIR Pro and was extremely happy.

Thanks Geoff.

I am interested but not ready for payment or delivery until on/after 5 March.

Don't hold sale if you have another interested person.

If you haven't sold before then I'll take it thanks.

okay

Hi Rob,
No worries. I'll leave it here and speak when/if you're interested. It will give me some time to check the PHD a little more too.
Regards
Geoff

Sorry Geoff, after careful consideration I have decided it's more than I'm willing to spend right now, for features I will never use, with a payload I won't be able to afford for another couple of years.

My current mount is good enough for now, I will be focusing on a more suitable camera which is my major limitation at the moment.
