First Light

Well it's been a while coming but I finally managed to get my imaging setup ready for use! 8" Skywatcher Black Diamond Newt, EQ6 and Canon 550D.

I roughly (too roughly) polar aligned and pointed at M8 to see what I could see, quite a lot it turns out! The results actually surprised me, I'm quite happy with this from a fairly brief trial run with no flats and only 20 sec subs.

My focus still needs work and I can definitely see the benefit of a coma corrector.

Antares (This was my first 'first light' to set the focus and framing).

Any criticism, tips and advice all welcome

Terrific first effort, well done

Longer subs, darks and better polar alignment but you are wel on your way

Great effort Murphy. You'll have a ton of fun with that set up. Lots to learn and master, but plenty of help here, not to mention the constant temptation of toys you'll "have to have"

Top stuff Murphy! Once you get guiding on the EQ6 you'll be laughing!
