Cone Nebula

Hi everyone,

A while since I have posted a Deep Sky object.

An L(Red)RGB image of the Cone Nebula using Red as the Luminance layer which has not been captured yet.

Taken earlier in the year from Heathcote, VIC under dark skies.

Each channel 2 hours exposure, 3 mins per exposures, total 6 hours over 2 nights.

Taken with a 9.5" CDK telescope, AP900 mount, ASI1600 camera.

Cannot wait to get the Luminance for this object!

Clear skies and stay safe.

John K.

Hi Russell,

I think you are right - this object would be good for Ha - let's see what the lockdowns and weather goods do later in the year

Hi Gerorge,

I just combined the RGB as per normal for the colour and then treated the Red channel only separately as I do the Luminance channel - masks, sharpening, noise reduction and contrast improvements.

That's a very nice close up John, considering it is quite low.
