My one regret is not making a sketch Even the faint extentions with the nobs on the ends were relatively easily seen with averted vision. And they were aircraft runways! One all previous occasions I was straining like hell to see them. The following night I was not able to replicate the view, even though I had other PNs in Sagittarius at nearly 800x. So you can just imagine the seeing during that time!
Wow - that's a beautiful machine. I'm not usually a dob man, but this instrument of yours is gorgeous. Well done! May I ask what woods have you used in its construction?
A year on and my gear has changed a little bit.
My 12" solid tube dob is now a truss dob, for transport reasons.
My new, 22 year old, TV Genesis now sits on my DIY Alt/Az mount.
And the 'observatory' now has a screen to shield the neighbors lights.
No major changes anticipated from here on, very happy with what I've got.
But I might save up for a couple of decent eyepieces?........

But I spend hours at the EP when weather allows - I've not used any other scope that is as good on the moon. Seeing permitting, it'll take a 3.2 EP and a 2x barlow with no image breakdown!!! Fantastic views along the terminator.
Its no slouch on DSOs or Planets either, but a short FL EP, rather than a barlow is reccomended - again it seems to punch above its weight. Stick a 13mm Nagler or a 19mm Panotic in and they'll be prying you out of your chair when the sun comes up!
The mounts pretty awesome too.
I plan to write a 'double review' soon, but would like a few more clear nights to do some doubles and fainter nebulae.
