SSL secure certificate

Hi all

Any plans to move to HTTPS for this site at all?

Not a big fan of unsecured sites, in this modern world especially.

I couldn’t agree more. This needs to be done.

It means passwords and Private Messages aren't interceptable easily, so impersonation and other related mayhem is a lot harder to achieve. I can't fathom why someone would want to do that on IIS, but then there are millions of people who presently believe that a group of Satanic, cannibalistic paedophiles (in Government, Holywood and business) run a global child sex trafficking ring, so who knows what motivates folk to do crazy things. The internet seems to have amplified the loonies' thought processes through a positive feedback loop, so locking the doors (so to speak) seems like a good idea.

(Of course, you shouldn't re-use passwords between sites, even if encryption is in use.)

I would say that the demographic of this site could lend itself for easy exploitation. I know there are still people who are okay with using XP, so who knows what's being passed between people on private messages.
Considering this is a site that has people with disposable cash who aren't spending inconsequential amounts of money on astro gear, it's not hard to image it being an easy site to target to gain access to information people have shared and believed private.

Plus, it's 2021. Everything should be HTTPS anyway.

SSL Certification - seems to be a minimum of $100/year or average $180/year.
https://www.crazydomains.com.au/ssl-certificates/
If we all chipped in a $1/yr, that would cover the cost.

No need to purchase an SSL certificate.
https://letsencrypt.org/ is created to provide FREE SSL certificates.

Mojo (Terry) informed us this morning that the site is now on https.

If there are any issues with your cookies you may just have to re-login under the new https site depending on the browser you're using.
The old http site now redirects to the new https site.
