Attaching PST to my EQ6

Hi guys

I'm wondering what's the best way to attach my PST to my EQ6?

The bottom of the PST seems to have a couple of threaded holes - what size are they?

Should I make a custom dovetail bar that then has screws that screw into the bottom of the PST?

Cheers

good morning mike,

I have connected a coranardo solar max to my eq6 a few times now, im not 100 percent sure but i belive that it is a 1/4 inch whitworth thread which is a very coarse thread. from there i have a few differnt dovetail plates that i have constructed.

Because of the light weight of the scope + webcam it will take very little to withhold it to your eq6 and because pointing accuracy is null and void as if you cant aim it at the sun and track it reasonably well i think you wont have any problems.!

Mike, I don't know if this helps but my understanding is that those threaded holes on the PST are the standrd 1/4" 20 tpi theads - same as on the base of your DSLR camera, or tripod. I know my Lunt scope is this common threada also.

G'Day Mike,

The holes are standard 1/4" 20TPI threads the same as a camera tripod.

I bought a little dovetail from York Optical I think which screws into the bottom of the PST, or your camera, etc.

I haven't tried the PST on the EQ6, but I found I needed a smaller counterweight to use the PST on the CG5. I made a 2kg one. It may not be such a problem on the EQ6 because the EQ6 is top heavy anyway without counterweights, so you might get away with a standard 5 kg weight.

Al.

Thanks guys - I may still have a few 1/4" screws lying around, and I've got a spare short dovetail so I'll see if I can construct something.

Cheers
