DSLR on ED80

I want to put a camera on my SW ED80 and dip my toe into the world of astrophotography. My intent is to buy a DSLR (up to $1k). The DSLR would be used for general photography as well (justification to better half ).
The Sony a6000 ticks a lot of my boxes for non-astro work. Has anyone here got an a6000 on their ED80, or am I barking up the wrong tree and should be looking at a Canon/Nikon something???

A6000

The A6000 certainly seems to be pretty good, and I'm looking at it too, as the 7's are out of my reach at the moment.
They seem lightweight and fast, and I've seen some good astro images come out of them.
I have used Nikon DSLRs on my ED80 for a while, and they produce good results but they are fairly heavy. You may need extenders to get it into focus though, so factor that in to the overall cost.
Someone posted this on here, using an A6000.

Good luck
