As this was the first time in 20 years I was unable to attend the awards at Parkes, I'd like to extend my congratulations to the winners and place getters for the 2024 CWAS David Malin awards.

Some familiar names popped up on the podium, but it was also great to see
the simply excellent work, which really is world class, by a new generation of Australian Astrophotographers.

Particular kudos needs to go to Jarrad Koh who not only took out the top honor, but excelled in many of the categories.

As I could not attend, I've only recently caught up with the David Malin awards presentation online.

Though I was unofficially aware David was retiring and would not be attending 2025 it was very touching to see the standing ovation he deservedly received on that announcement.

Rating rather better than a mention in the "Astro-classifieds" is nice to see the Malin winners get TV coverage on the Channel 7 news

Once again well done to the winners

Not sure if I qualify as 'new generation' - Lachlan certainly does! And Jarrod will take some stopping in years to come! But it was a great event to be a part of once again, Trevor's talk was a down-to-earth highlight. The ovation and honours given to David during the event really felt like they were being given by us present on behalf of astronomers all around the world, for all of his inspiration and images across the decades.
