Thanks for posting the link. It was concerning that to be part of the ELT consortium that the dopes in Canberra (don't get me started) seem to think Australian Science can't walk and chew gum, hence are moving to defund the AAO. Once again we will lose invaluable infrastructure for training the next generation of Physicists and Astronomers. Funny how they can always find the money for a new sporting stadium, school hall or free roof insulation.

Thanks Jeff actually heard this while driving today .I am sure that a venture down this line will be far more fruitful than a sub .

That the government of the day say they can't afford to support the ELT and Sidings Springs is ridiculous, for the cost of a few tanks, that hopefully never get used in anger, or a football stadium upgrade etc etc. is nonsensical.
