Jupiter 25th Aug (now with featureless natural light Venus)
hi all,
finally have produced a good jupiter not sure why i had managed to get nice Saturns pretty well a lot of the time but not jupiter, perhaps it needed the extra fps of my new zwo 224mc. anyway, i was sweating on the clouds as i was eyeing off the jetstream predictions from last week, the forecast was for cloud but it stayed clear til about midnight.
All on the 12" dob with a 5x TV powermate, zwo 224mc, sharpcap, Pipp, AS3.
the transit was fairly low in the sky.
Cheers
Russ

These look great Russell. As others have mentioned, the first Jupiter obviously had the best seeing during capture. That's a nice camera you've got there, that one of Saturn is so smooth and clean. Colours are good too. Combined with your big aperture, you'll be having a lot of fun with the new camera, well done!
Great shots Russell. Saturn is perfect and good to see Venus getting some attention- well captured.
Anthony
thanks Anthony - I agree nice to nab Venus even though it is quite featureless.

Thanks Marc - yeah I know i was keeping an eye on the jetstream for ages waiting for good conditions - a 48 hour window opened up, luckily the clouds stayed away (they weren't forecast to...). Looks like Wednesday night you will have good jetstream conditions (fingers crossed for clouds to stay away) - touch and go if it will be ok down here.
