Sundays Triple Transit + Io Photobomb

Hi Guys! I’m still very new to planetary imaging but couldn’t resist having a go at Jupiter during the triple transit. Conditions were up and down but honestly so are my processing skills!! When I get the time I’ll put together an animation that will be a bit more forgiving of the blurry images- but in the meantime I’ll post a couple of images I got so far.

1) Triple Transit. From left: Europa, Europa Shadow + Ganymede, Ganymede Shadow, Callisto, and Io coming round behind the other way just before entering into Jupiters shadow.

2) Callisto and shadow transiting.

Overall I really loved the experience and was able to get some fleeting views with the binos that were truely stunning as well. And I’m glad I wasn’t the only one trying to make Jupiter sit still on the screen!

That is very good, never mind for a 1st timer ! When you catch some (rarer) good seeing, your images should really pop. Keep going !

Very nice, these scrubbed up quite well for the poor conditions.

Cheers

Thanks Dannis & big-blue for the kind words! Yes definitely looking forward to trying to process some images from a night of better seeing - really helps to refine how to use the software when you’ve got better data. But still quite happy with the progress so far
