APM/TMB 152mm f/8 LZOZ Refractor

Simply stunning high-end TMB-designed 6" refractor with increasingly rare and uncompromising LZOZ glass. This telescope is up there with the very best and all who have seen through it will attest to the quality of optics.

I've decided that it is just plain greedy to own both a 28" SDM and a high-end refractor so the APM must go.

In fact I sold it as part of my acquisition of the SDM to Matt Saarikko in Canberra but about 6 months ago I ended up agreeing to purchase it back. Then my 28" arrived and that, plus Covid has meant it has remained in Canberra awaiting collection or delivery.

Matt is perfectly able to show anyone local, Covid permitting and it can easily be freighted to anywhere in Australia at buyer's cost.

It really is a beautiful instrument that has benefited enormously from its sojourn to Canberra as Matt has carefully cleaned the optics, stripped the rings and re-painted them, added a carry handle and made the Scopeguard case fit its new configuration. Matt can also attest to the unmatched quality of views through this scope.

It is without doubt a 'Planet Killer' but also a superlative imaging system. Depending on the size of sensor you use it may need a flattener/reducer.

It also has a fairly expensive Baader click lock mechanism added with a new face plate to attach it to the telescope. Comes with Rings, finder and Losmandy dovetail. All you need is a diagonal and a mount. It works perfectly for both visual and imaging on an AZ-EQ6.

$10,750 - this is a very fair price as brand new, without all the extras would cost you significantly more - and that's if you could even get one in the next 2 years.

NB Please note the mount in the photo is NOT included.

Thanks Matt.

I’m leaving this one to fate a little. I’m going to have it freighted up to Brisbane in the next week or two. Once it arrives in Brisbane it will be far harder to resist keeping it. I’m already ambivalent but I always have a use for the cash 😉

The message is, don’t procrastinate for too long but a part of me hopes you do too
