Silly Question ..
Does this allow standard 2 inch filter with a 300 L IS lens? I thought he standard filter adapter for these was 52mm

No John 52mm filters will not fit this, I had this holder attached to a 500mm f/4 quite some time ago.
If you would like to pay the postage John, and try it out I'll send it to you, you can have it for free.
Just send a PM, please

Didn't question if 52mm would fit - the standard one takes 52mm
Questioned if 2 inch ones fit this, and if it fits the 300 2.8
