NASA is sending what?

The Muppets bought you 'Pigs In Space' now NASA, with the assistance of SpaceX bring you 'Squids In Space' ... and Water Bears (Tardigrades). This could be a new chapter in the Alien franchise.

Also heard somewhere they are sending a Pizza.

The Discovery Tardigrades were as big as very large pigs, not micro hamsters.

The things they do to water bears... these little critters need a #tag support group... A group recently tested to see if they might have survived the moon impact experiment.

Impact speeds:
Researchers found the bears could withstand an impact of up to 900 meters per second and shock pressures of up to 1.14 gigapascals. At higher speeds, the seemingly invincible water bears turned to mush.

The study results show that tardigrades can survive impact speeds of around 2970kph, no airbags required... (They were frozen and fired at a sandbag for testing, then returned to water to check survival rates).

Here is one I spent hours cleaning up for a photo. Actually they are not so tuff if in the form you see here ....it is when they go into their "suspended animation" state that they become super tuff... unfortunately the little guy in the photo I crushed when trying to remove an air bubble that was attached to his head...the stuff at his rear is either stomach contents or some of his internals...He died.

Alex:

Maybe that's why they say "freeze" in photography...

Nice shot at that scale though.
