Now we're able to travel again, to some extent!, a weekend in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia with some fellow astrophotographers. Nice to get away!
About 14 hours of L and 2 hours each of RGB with a GSO RC8 and ZWO ASI1600MM-C on an Astro-Physics Mach1 mount.
Well Paulie....mate....that's a most excellent image of the Trifid, bright and (accurate) colourful but most importantly, believable, a real genuine looking, astro image very well done
Very nice rendition there Paul! I only have one criticism and that is with the use of deconvolution, it looks like it's been pushed a bit too hard in that department with the worms but other than that it's top shelf

Thanks Colin. Hmm. Yes. I weas conscious of going too far during decon, and curbed my worst excesses But still was maybe skating a bit close to the edge, trying to make up for it not being the best seeing.

Ha!...I read this Col and thought wha tha?? he's catching my desease ...and went back and looked closely thinking, "Ï" ?? missed this???...and blow me down, you are right ...some worms are indeed evident ...but Paulie, in your defence, they are not prominent (hey decon crazed me missed them first look ) aaaand so, very forgivable
Sorry to reply to an old thread, but I was thrilled (and surprised!) to win the Deep Sky section of the Malin Awards last weekend with (a slight repro of) this image.
Shame it couldn't be held in person in Parkes. But was a great experience still - my first experience of the Malins. A big thank you to the organisers and judges. A lot of work clearly goes into that event from some dedicated and talented folk. Not to mention the wonderful images from all of the entrants - that overall winning nightscape image (see link to the awards results above) was stunning.
