As I said elsewhere, it's just more junk. I don't buy Musk's suggestion that they won't be seen by astronomers. You only have to look at the deployment photo to see they reflect earthshine. While a casual glance may not spot them, the human eye is not capable of long exposures and gathering faint light the way a camera sensor can. They will appear on long subexposures due to their reflectivity. They block the sky behind them as well. It's hard enough to shoot subs now without having trails of various floaters showing up. Another example of Musk's poor judgement imho.

It isn't enough to litter the Earth, now we need this crap above as well......

(Just because we can do it doesn't mean we should do it E.M.)

As long as they follow each other in a congo line it should be no different than one satellite trail to remove, maybe a bit brighter. Easy to reject. When they start going sideways I reckon they'll make a "decombing" filter in PixInsight. I'd hate to see what they'll come up with a name for the process.

Not going to be a conga line by what I have seen. 32 orbital planes was the figure I saw, though that was with 50 odd sats per plane so not even 15% of the planned constellation.

At least they could paint the things matte black!

That sounds like a good subject for a petition to SpaceX.
