World record: fastest polar alignment ever!

I'm claiming this one! I aimed the tripod of the G11 south using my transit compass, put the head on, leveled it, put the Fsq and st80 on, balanced it, wired up everything. When it got dark I looked through the polar alignment scope, I could see Octans near the middle. Spun it to align Achernar, switched on the reticle, and would you believe it? Not only the two main stars were perfectly in their slots, but so were the two ridiculously faint 'extra' alignment stars. I have witnesses! I did not touch any of the mount attitude adjustments, and was getting perfect stars at 10 minute subs.
Makes up for the time I wasted an hour because I forgot the PAS is an inverted view....
Cheers,
Andrew.

Pity it was a fluke- still it gave me the hour I needed to pick about 1kg of lead shot out of the base of my Obsession. The cap on one end of the counterweight tube vibrated off on the drive up!
I was planning on chilling out with my dinner as the sun set but instead I spent the time digging away with a dessert spoon.
Karma, I guess.
Andrew.
