Long distance camera control units

Hi Guys, dose anyone know if one can get a remote camera control unit that can fire a Camera at about 20 meters or more.

I know one can get WIFI setups, but was wondering if there were other alternatives to operate the shutter at a longer distance not using WIFI.

Thank you in advance.

Leon

Hi Leon,
It would help to know which camera it is for, but if you already have an intervalometer based cable type release then it might be possible to add an extension cable to that, subject to experiment and not too much distance and hence voltage drop over the cable length. Or possibly some further electrical mods (???)

Best
JA

PS... A flash trigger type release using light is also possible, depending on the camera and application.

I have wireless intervalometer.. got it from ebay for ~$30.
It consists of two units, one (transmitter) looks like "normal" intervalometer (also can be used in usual way), another part (with receiver) is attached to camera.
Here it is:

There are also IR remote controllers for Canon, but camera has sensor on the front.. so hard to use if camera is pointing away .

Excellent, thank you indeed, bojan, will have a look at that.

J A it will be for a Canon 6D mark 2, maybe i will have to step up with technology and get an up to date phone and use wifi after all, seeing mine is an old dinosaur of the I Phone 4 version

Mate I have to come clean. I only upgraded from an iPhone 5 earlier this year. I grabbed an iPhone 11 Pro Max and love it. I can actually read the screen on the newie and apps work on it too!! There’s no looking back when you take the leap.

Yea my Mr's has been pushing me to take her old one so she can get a new one, but to date that hasn't worked, as yet.

Anyway I know it will probably die one day.
