For those at are following the Cruise the South pacific thread, which I guess is going to drag on for a bit, dont encourage me !!!!!,,,,heres the face behind the waffling
Well Observed,,,Yes I moved the things around a bit to get a nice balance..
the fork arms are unbalanced at manufacture, I moved the finder, and put the 100 where the finder was, dropped 5kg off the weight required to balance the overall units..seems to work ok,,, I can bias it either way by moving the counter forward or aft by quater inch,,,fluked it really...
I now understand why you have "Need a bigger truck" in your signature, Sir D. What a beast.
Nevertheless it's good to see you have your daughter learning the finer points of computer control, but I'd be more careful when you do move it; it looks like you've done a fair bit of damage to the house already.
Hey ,,,what do mean,,,Its not a house...its an Observatory, we happen to live in....Seriously the observatory is being built as we chat,,,I had to assemble the beast, work out its shortfalls, there are many,,,flatten out the wrinkles, so I can be imaging ASAP...
OK... everyone is doing it it seems, so I am supposed to follow :-)
This is me and my 10", watching Venus transit on Aug 2004... (when I did not know about this forum). I did not change much since then :-)

OK, here it is. I've resisted for quite while now... I haven't got a good photo of me showing my eight inches (of scope)... so here's a photo from another life. Taken at Parliament House Sydney December 2002... Bob Carr is just there for scale. This is about as shiny and polished and beautiful as I get - isn't that a shame! (BTW I'm the dude on the left ).
