Exmouth

After a near enough 5000km drive we are finally in Exmouth for TSE 2023.

Put the system together late morning (gee...it was warm) with the AP ensemble working perfectly.

Many eclipse chasers here....now all we need are clear skies!

Won’t be any clear skies here in Melbourne so I hope it’s clear in the only part of Australia that gets to see it

Fabulous rig. Is that a Stowaway and an AP155 on a Mach 2?

Greg.

It is indeed. It will have an EOSRa on the back, the 155 will have a EOSR5

It's eclipse day...and blue skies

God that AP155 is a sexy beast with that 4" Focuser.

The AP155 is last oil-spaced triplet produced by AP and has
minimal lens reflections as a result.

It was the right tool for the job. Very glad I went with it

Attached is a single frame...really looking forward to processing the HDR data.

Excellent Peter
I'm interested to see the HDR. On the HDR subject, not sure it'd be possible, due to overexposure/flaring, but an earthshine(?) composite would be interesting.

Best

Thanks guys. I managed about 600 exposures in total (running two cameras) but due the very brief totality (58 seconds at my location) and while I did get the outer corona, I did not plan a deep exposure for an earth shine shot...but you never know as stacking a bunch of the longer exposures...it might pop into view.

Attached just one more...note, despite the photosphere still being in view, the sheer lack of internal reflection from the AP objective.

Looks great Peter! You will have a fantastic set of subs to play with.

Looking forward to hearing about your experiences with Larsson-Sekanina filters

... and lack of diffraction effects from new Canon bodies/chips. It really is an amazing progress (my 2017 similar shots with photosphere arcs showed strong diffraction caused by pixel grid of relatively old 7D). Better microlensing/Bayer filters?

Thanks yet again for the positive comments gentlemen.
I am champing at the bit to process the raw data, but only packed an iPad
which only very basic tinkering during stops along the rather long road
Back to Sydney. I have to say. It was one of the prettiest eclipses I have seen.
The chromosphere extended almost completely around the solar disk, with
Looping and detached proms. Beautiful!
