2022 Berenice and Arthur Page Medal

Hi All,

Have just been awarded the 2022 Berenice and Arthur Page Medal.

The peak professional body in Australia regarding Astronomy is the Astronomical Society of Australia ASA, every two years they award the Berenice and Arthur Page Medal to an amateur for work that advances the field of astronomy. Today in Melbourne the president of the ASA announced the 2022 award. This is the highest honour the professional body can confer on an amateur.
It was live streamed on youtube, have attached a link. Note: when you open the link it takes about 1 min before it runs.

Cheers
Trevor

Congratulations Trevor. Well-deserved award for your outstanding work on planetary science.

I knew Arthur very well. He was my astronomy mentor. Berenice passed away when I was a young child and quite a few years before I became interested in astronomy and met Arthur. During my university years, I spent many nights at Mt Tamborine observatory with Arthur and several other young astronomers that he also took under his wing. He was extraordinarily generous with his time for so many of us as we were getting into astronomy. He had a fantastic sense of humour and he led an extraordinary life.

Not so long ago, I told his daughter, Sam, that the fact that I now host friends, mentor, and share my dark skies out here is due in no small part due to her father's influence on me.

Congratulations to you and the BOSS team on the joint award!

Was just reading the article on the ABC News website, congratulations to Trevor and the BOSS team as well. Always a highlight of the day to see the results of their work when it is posted on here and on the ALPO, in Trevor's case.
