Observing nights Sydney's south east

Hey all,

Just curious, any one out there do any observing/photography around the botany/Maroubra area in Sydney?

I do a lot out of my courtyard in an apartment block but want to venture to some darker spots in the area. Pretty hesitant to go anywhere alone though.

I know there's afew clubs around but was just thinking of something more casual.

Greg,
You live in a fairly light polluted suburb ( my guess Bortle 7 or 8 ) like me
The only areas to get away from from Sydney’s horrible light pollution are the outskirts. Maybe join the Sutherland Astronomical Society ( SAS ) they have a good observatory, observing grounds and social events etc.. also have observing nights away at a dark site near Waterfall in the National park Only a 45 min drive from Botany
Other than that I can’t think of any safe dark sites to go by yourself close to Botany / Maroubra area
Cheers
Martin
