EAA - Carina with LExtreme filter

I was pleasantly surprised with the live result of my new filter. From the first sub it was mostly there and after about 5 subs the resolution appeared to be all there. I clicked [save] at 31 subs. Taken from suburban Brisbane using only SharpCap to stretch and colour balance during live view.
Of course, everything is red due to the dual band filter.

Carina nebula (Esprit 120, ASI294MC Pro, 31 x 60 seconds, guided, darks).

Isn't entirely accurate. Here's an image from a colour camera with the same filter.

That said, colour is sometimes a personal choice in this hobby. There's definitely OIII in that nebula that the L-Extreme pulls out, but it's up to you to want to show it

Thanks for sharing/

Great image, is this OSC or a DSLR? I prefer shooting Carina with a DSLR just because I've found that the lower H alpha sensitivity allows the blues to come through more easily, but if a OSC and an L-Extreme gets similar results that might be another justification for me buying an L-Extreme lol

Shaun: Camera is a ZWO ASI294MC Pro (OSC).
Adam: Thanks for the heads up. I was intending to post a separate question around colour possibilities. I haven't done anything to this pic in PI or Photoshop as I wanted to show what I got straight out of live view stacking in SharpCap. I looked at the linked picture and can't see any information about acquisition or processing. Do you have a link to any more details?

Cheers, Jim

Sorry, Jim
I should have posted the IIS version:

This is from the ASI2600MC. You're right as well in that the default view from this camera through this filter is red, but that doesn't mean the OIII isn't there waiting to be seen.

There is a way of separating the channels and then doing an HOO recombination. DSS won't do it but siril Astropixel processor and pixinsight can do it. The recombination can bring out the Oxygen channels and colours.

Hey Nik, that is very good information. I had wondered if what you did was even possible, but there you have it.

As a side benefit of using this filter, I found it much easier to get a tight focus on a star because the atmospheric disturbances were much less pronounced. Is this your experience as well?

Definitely, the filter really reduces star bloat.
