Taken with my widefield set up, a Canon 200mm F2.8 prime lens and ASI6200 MM Pro camera. Makes for a nice wide field at an image scale of 3.9". I'm still playing with the set up and need to finalise the tilt adjustment but can get away with it here as the field is cropped down anyway. I am sure that pixel peepers will find plenty to discuss and that's ok too
I was keen to be able to integrate both the Ha and O3 data into the RGB image and spent a lot of quiet time sitting at the computer contemplating how to go about this. I am pleased with where this has landed now so its ready to hand over to the world at large.
Hi Rodney,
that's a very impressive image.
I am sure that many Astro imagers would like to marry
a high quality DSLR lens with a modern mono camera
and you've done that well.
Great shot Rod, you got all the cool bits in, nice!... and combining Ha and OIII is a really good idea with the SMC, otherwise it can look a tad on the plain side
I envy you being able to grab that in a single frame, having just done a four panel on the LMC! Very nice. I can see what you mean about needing to dial the tilt in a little but it is certainly not offensive. At 200mm you would expect the 6200 to be pretty well undersampled but it does not look that way.
How have you got the image train arranged? Still with a filter wheel? I would love to put some of my wife's lenses on my ASI2600MM at some point but I am not keen on removing the guider and FW if I don't have to.

Many thanks, I still have a way to go with getting the bugs out of this setup but I like where it is going.

Thanks Paul, your observation on the under sampling is a good one in that I was pleasantly surprised at how well the image resolution holds up. For the image train, I am using the Astromechanics adapter for mounting the Canon lens on to the filter wheel (ZWO 2” EFW). There is insufficient back focus for the OAG in this configuration so I have built a side by side plate to carry a seperate mini guide scope and camera. Link here for some images of this set up.
Thanks, I reckon with some adapters and blanking plates made up I might be able to do something similar, using my SVX80T effectively as a guidescope by mounting the OAG to it with a blanking plate on the filter wheel attachment points.
If I had the lazy cash around to buy a new mount I would pair my CEM70G with a CEM70 (To replace the old Orion Altas I have now as my second mount) and use the inbuilt guider on the CEM70G.
Fantastic image Rodney! A great result for your 200mm, and very interesting seeing how far the SMC halo extends in the direction of 47 Tucanae, and also the start of the Magellanic Tail/Bridge 👍👍👏👏
A stunning image of the SMC Rodney & your technique of blending the data sets was obviously a success, the colours are exemplary.
Cheers,
Tony

Hi Rodney, great image! Also thanks for the detail on the setup.
I am just starting out with deep sky and starting to experiment with canon 300mm F4 (extending from nightscape). I have worked out that I need to incorporate guiding (to get beyond 60 sec subs) and have acquired the bits for a side-by-side, so great to see your setup.
