M83 and temporary visitor

With a cyclonic gale blowing (which resulted in over 100 SES call-outs) I have to say the seeing last night was appalling.

But it was clear. Hence I did a late night imaging run on M83.

I often register and animate successive sub-exposures to see if I caught any moving interlopers during an imaging run...and often come up blank, but not this time. Asteroid
405 Thia made a guest appearance.

My point being, if you don't check your data, you might possibly miss often catalogued, but you never know, maybe uncatalogued, NEO's worthy of further investigation.

MaxIm CCD.

It allows you to flip through multiple frames and scroll around the image as they sequence.

But it does so much more....for automated capture using, well, pretty much anything (cameras/filter wheels/autoguiders) , it's THE program of choice IMHO.

Highly recommended

Good catch and pretty good M83. Surprised you even bothered getting out. Saturday the seeing was indeed horrible.

Thanks guys...but not a great M83...looks more like an image from my 4" rather than the RC16. ....but given the recent inclement weather any clear sky is worth a shot for hopeless cases suchas yours truly....
