Shutter remote release/timer - what about this one?

Does anyone have experience with this remote electronic controller for shutter which is supplied by Telescopes & Astronomy in Adelaide. I'm thinking of buying one for my Pentax K100D. I was going to built one based around a microprocessor, but this seems to have much more functionality for not too much more in price, but minus the effort. Many thanks in advance. Eric

ps. Yes I have DSLR Shutter on my PC and the cable, but haven't tested it all out yet. This is for those times when I want the PC doing other things, elsewhere.

TIMER REMOTE SWITCHES BACK ON THE MENU

Timer Remote Switches to suit most popular brands of SLR including Nikon,
Canon and Pentax. The Timer Switch, with a built in interval timer, is a
premium electronic remote timer for exact control over exposure time.
Moreover, compared with the original products, it is affordable and is good
quality. The Timer Switch allows the user to choose different functions
like length, interval, delay and total number of exposures. It also has a
speaker to notify the various functions. It uses an LCD background light
for the display. The timer switch has been tested by one of our astro
society member and he recommends it! - Thanks to Alan Brinkworth.

Nope, just some star trails. Some (shallow!) widefields. Maybe a Moon image or bright cluster through the C8. Nothing more sophisticated than that, I expect.

I bought mine from here
http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/dslrb...34Q2ec0Q2em322
It's probably the same as the one you are looking at. You can set delay timer, interval timer, countdown timer etc etc. A great product.
Mine cost under $70 delivered.

Checking it out Jeanette. It has an interesting feature:-

"The time is settable in 1-sec.units from 1 secretary.To 99 hours,and 59 sec."

LOL
Still, a good buy.
Where else can you get 59 secretaries for under $70?

Jeanette

I see two types from that shop. The one you linked to and this one which is more expensive (plus postage isn't free):-

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Timer-Remote-...3A1|240%3A1318

Sorry if I'm being thick, but I need the following (the usual features we want, I expect):-

1. wait for some initial delay
2. open shutter for a set period then close shutter (I think I can choose a camera setting whereby the mirror swings up then it waits 2.5 sec before opening shutter)
3. wait for a set interval
4. Repeat 2. and 3. for a set number of exposures (or maybe for a set total period of time)

Does yours do this? If so, about $65 delivered is a good price. Or do I need the more expensive one (>$100 delivered).
