Imaging with PST

I just got my PST last weekend and I have an ASI120MM for imaging. What is the best way to get a wider FOV. Ideally, I'd like to get a full disk image. Will a focal reducer work as a cam with a larger chip size will be too expensive at this time. Any hints and tips with imaging with this thing?

thanks

Welcome to the world of Ha....
The chip size of the ASI 120 is 3.6 x 4.8mm - just too small to give full disk coverage with the 400mm fl PST.
Due to the limited backfocus (The PST was designed as a visual instrument) it's well neigh impossible to accommodate a reducer.
Unfortunately the only viable option is to use a camera with a larger chip, or practise preparing mosaics......

The ASI 174 (although I use one..) is not a good fit for a 400mm focal length scope. Smaller pixels would be better. That's basically why I went for a ASI 183MM.

With the PST you will have to change the way you attach the camera. I could focus with a QHY5L but not with the ASI120 due to shape; the ASI120 just cannot get the chip close enough to achieve focus without modifying the 1.25” nosepiece on the PST. The QHY5L is 1.25” diameter so it just slides in.
