Astro Tourism business
Due to my wife's health problems, we are selling off the Kingaroy Observatory (formerly Maidenwell Obs) now located at the town's airport - 5 min. drive to the town's CBD, accomodation and eateries.
The business was set up in August 2004 and been trading ever since - 10 years at Maidenwell and 7 years at Kingaroy.
Each year, KO attracts 1000's of visitors to view the night skies(SQM 26.3) through 3 x Meade LX200 14 inch scopes on the Observation Deck that seats 40. The deck measures 8 x 5 m and has a smooth, motorised via hydraulic pump oil, roll-off steel roof.
The 10 x 8m Star Theatre with carpet, AC and A/V, seats 70.
We also have a 6 x 6m Office and Display Centre and a 6 x4m amenities bock.
In the 2.6m Sirius dome houses a 60mm Coronado solar scope on an EQ5 mount with a Stellacam II colour analouge video camera, that projects the solar disc onto a 2.6m wide screen in the Star Theatre - ideal for school and coach visitors.
This Astro Tourism business can be carried on as an ongoing attraction or moved by road transport to another locality for any purpose. Assistance in setting up and running the Obs. is part of the deal.
