Clive did you mean these Khazars?

And the above is an attempt to give a short version.
What interesting history.

There is nothing in that Census Form that they don't know already.
The only possible thing they may not know is where we are at that particular time on August 9th.

I went in to get a green slip and was told by the insurer I had a speeding fine so my premium would be higher.
I guess the government sold off that data.
That is wrong to quote someone else because I say that is good thinking on the part of our wonderful rulers.

Follow the money.
Who got paid for the software?
Did they get the job via lobby or mates.
How much did it cost , who got paid?
Who cares unless the lions share goes os...well of course it will go os thats the way the empire works.
All good unless you can suggest a better system.

Gday Alex
Guess you shouldnt speed then :-)
However, with this slow creeping "legislated" loss of privacy, how long do you reckon before the Guthrie test morphs into a DNA collection process that tags you for life? Medical insurance will be a bummer for some.
I suspect a lot of this stuff is now being done because the computer systems make it cost effective to do.
Once DNA testing is down to even a $100 or so a pop, it will be brought in ( just like semi forced immunisation was ).

Gattaca, your describing the world of Gattaca. So how long before the ABS wants a DNA sample? Just for statistical purposes of course.

Yep... and yes, you are correct... that is very much the short version.

Andrew I did not know I was in a 50 area, and I was the slow car leading a long line behind. I had not been in that part of the world before and missed the sign. That does not excuse me but hope it shows I was ignorant of the proper limit.
I just had to make the point I observe the rules.

Well it is funny we control breeding for domesticated animals but we don't do it for humans.
Why not?
If you have poor DNA no kids for you.
Unless that raises some moral issue why not.

Now Guys, Really,
How do you expect them to address all those up coming fines? ...
To the resident ...
I don't think that would hold up in court.
Of course they need your names.

3 August 2016 Andrew Wilkie ___________________________________ _____ A STATEMENT ON THE CENSUS SHAMBLES ___________________________________ _____ The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, will be available to discuss the very significant level of public concern with the conduct of the national census. WHERE: Parliament House lawns HOBART WHEN: 11:30am TODAY 3 August “I have been shocked by the number of people who have approached me and my office with all sorts of concerns about the national census scheduled for next week,” Mr Wilkie said. “A big problem is the difficulty and cost being experienced by many people attempting to contact the Australian Bureau of Statistics by phone. Typically they are experiencing very lengthy delays, if they can get through at all, and even having to pay for the calls.” “There is also a broad feeling of confusion in the community. I am not at all surprised by this considering the experience of a group of seven people in my office this morning. One had received a paper census form even though he didn’t request or want it, one had been visited by a census official at home, two had received a letter at home with a code to use online, one had received three letters at her home, and two hadn’t been contacted at all. The one who got a paper census form is baffled by the two different serial numbers it contained, received no detailed instructions and found no mention of the specifics of fines. “Despite the collection of names in previous censuses the logic for this has not been communicated to the public, if indeed there is any logic at all. Nor has any explanation been given for why the ABS holding this information for much longer than normal is warranted. “I do not doubt the importance of the census and I commend the vast majority of ABS staff for doing the very best they can. But the Government needs to step up and listen to the concerns in the community and provide an assurance that no one will be fined if they haven’t been able to complete the census.”

I suspect they would adopt the same attitude they do with a car, and fine the registered owner of the property ( unless they can nominate the real miscreant ).
That said, i think that there will be so much genuine confusion, let alone passive disobedience, that there wont be enough courts.

Hmmm, result 1 of census data: need more courts :-)

I wonder whether the Privacy Act 2014 takes precedence over the ABS - in which case don't give your name. The Act also gives you the right to use a pseudonym.

An alternative IMHO is the base64 encode your name and give them that.

Well... I've just filled mine out omitting the unit number and name is householder householder. Also inserted bull data for the rest as well - certainly not disclosing my birthdate or employer.

I reckon the database will be hacked fairly quickly.

FWIW... just matching your postcode and birthdate to the pharmaceuticals database (been to a chemist for a script lately ?) medical records or the motor registry records will give a 90%+ likelihood of identifying you uniquely - with name and address.

I can't wait to see the numbers of identity thefts rocket after this, knowing how many home PC's are running outdated operating systems without current patches or malware protection, and almost certainly contaminated with keystroke loggers and worse.

The more I read on this census debacle, the more annoyed I get with the ABS and the government. Besides the privacy concerns I am appalled at their sheer incompetence and wishful thinking that they can keep the collected data safe. Next I'll hear a statement from them that the Tooth Fairy is real and Santa will be bringing everyone great presents this year.

Absolute dumb asses and I'm getting tired of these excessively ignorant and stupid people messing with my life.

Census on Tuesday night this is Friday still no form or ref number and the post has been. So it gives them 1 day to get their act together.
