I reckon more panels next time I image will give a better result. Certainly need something in the order of 12 or so panels.
Done a bit more work on this image and it can be found at the link below

Sorry I haven't commented on this earlier. It's a major achievement, especially given the dubious weather predictions. A great record to treasure for a lifetime.

Fantastic image Paul.
Always admire your work.
Your processing is superb.
This would make a great wall poster.

Yeh Paul this is a great record, very well done
You have a nice collection of excellent solar discs at your web site and now one with the silhouette of Venus on it - gold

I like the tweaked version even more. You've got that awesome golden yellow but you've got that nice red limb ala Peter Ward's image which looks fantastic.

Thanks guys appreciate your thoughts and comments.
Mike that was always my goal to have a record for the event and one I was proud to say is mine. That is fair to say has been achieved. Last transit I was in between scopes and watched it through a 4" Baader filter and viewed it naked eye. This was much more memorable.
Greg, I like my colour scheme quite a lot. It took me some time to get the general colour for each mosaic and they do vary a little but generally I like that golden colour.

Of course I had to choose a Transit of Venus image for IOTW this week, and while there were literally hundreds to choose from, this is my current favourite.
Very nice work Paul!
It's now IOTW.

Very nice detail.
Why do you present the picture upside down?

I can never quite achieve that lovely gold colour, mine always end up looking orange.
Nicely done and congratulations on IOTW.
