Paul, if you meant "keeping up with the Jones's" I think theres a lot of that here too.
I personally think very carefully about my astro purchases re cost/benefit with the exception of buying the ed80. Whilst good for what it is, it seems a lot more useful to the imagers than visual observers such as myself living with light pollution.

Nughty Daniel, very naughty! Don't you think that $100 on a fancy star calculator is a bit extravagant?! You could have bought something nice for your dear wife instead. I hope you'll make up for it this xmas.

Just started to add up, got scared and decided definitely no more this year.

Luckily Jan 1st is not too far way because theres one or two things I must get. Like a heavy duty dovetail to mount the Parallax rings for the 10" Starfinder OTA when they arrive (soon please mr postman).

I have avoided this thread for fear that I will actually add up what I have spent (and sold...a very small number indeed) in the year...my wife knows about all purchases and has even encouraged a few of them...but, seeing the number on paper will be a shock to us both.

My only respite is in seeing everyone elses list...compared to many I am sure that my purchases are not too bad...at least that is the story I am telling myself...
