Yup, Louie told me last night on the phone he is coming, rain hail or FLU
Myself and Andrew Murrell will also be there. If I get off my lazy butt I may even get "Hector" fixed in time, which would be nice, but I doubt it, gotta make 3 new blocks for him which will take a while.

Glad to see you are feeling better Louie
The beers in my fridge are going to be out of date before you get to drink them at this rate.
I am looking forward to the nights viewing as I saw the Andromeda galaxy for the first time last night and also the great orion nebula. Cant wait to see them under dark skies.

I'd like to come up for a few hours to check out some gear and talk to you guys about scopes and mounts. Does anyone have the GPS coordinates for the site at Kulnura? If not is it easy to find you guys once you enter the field from Greta Rd? (I have the JPG from Iceman's post below)
Cheers,
Nuri
P.S. I'll bring my Canon 20D if anyone wants to use it for imaging

Hi Nuri.
You're more than welcome to come up! Once you go in the driveway, turn to the right and you'll see us across in the paddock ahead and to the left. There's plenty of space to park your car there.
I'd love to take some widefield shots on my EQ platform with your 20D!

Hi Mike,
No problem... that's one thing I want to learn to do anyway, so maybe you can show me how polar alignment is done etc..
I've been researching astro-equipment on the net for more than a year now with view to purchasing an imaging scope. I've enjoyed learning so much about the models and technicalities, that I'm just continuing to research!
I'll probably end up with a C9.25 or C11 and ED80 or ED120 if released soon on a EQ6 Skyscan (all from Andrews) - waiting on the release of the updateable hand controller version... I've never actually seen any of this equipment though!
What time are you guys meeting?
Cheers,
Nuri

Some guys will be there about 5:30-6pm, others a little later. Where abouts do you live?
If you get there when Louie (atalas) does, you can see how he sets up his C11 + Losmandy mount. He's planning to do some imaging tomorrow night.
I've got an EQ platform (for a dob/newt), not an EQ mount, so you won't learn much about polar aligning from watching me put it on the ground and turn it on

he he.. that's cool, that in itself is a leaning curve for me. Do you know when Louie will arrive?
I live in Newington (Olympic Village in Homebush) and have a Pajero, so if anyone needs to transport large equipment from central Sydney that they otherwise cannot, that's no problem. I can't promise that I'll stick around till you do though!

Hi Nuri I'll be there about 5.30pm ,I live in Bankstown . If your there I can take you through the set-up and polar aligning method used for imaging .
I'm using a C11 with a ED80 guide scope mounted on a G11 EQ mount.

Looking forward to Saturday night. Weather looks very promising (at the risk of spoiling it). Glad to hear you are better Louie.
Gazz, interesting to hear your comment about Andromeda Galaxy - I too saw it for the first time last night....very low on the Northern horizon, a very large smudge. Hopefully I can make out a bit more detail tomorrow night under dark skies.
Last night I had a good look at the Saturn nebula and Helix nebula in Aquarius too - might be a bit easier at Kulnura than my backyard to get a really good view of those objects.

I'm sorry we had to leave in a hurry without saying goodbye to anyone..we got a phone call saying my daughter had hurt herself at home so we rushed back...she's fine now
anyway it was nice to catch up and the highlights for me were NGC 346 through Hector and NGC 2070 through John's 10 inch and O III filter
