November - Solar Eclipse - I'll be in Nth Qld with my wife for that plus a short holiday. I cannot make it back in time. Oh dear!

Hey, I have an idea! Why don't you quit your job on the Thursday and re-apply for it on the Wednesday when you get back! Yeah I know, a crazy idea but worth a try.
