Malcolm,

As Geoff pointed out, read the question carefully and objectively.

For example, when I went back to do my trade certificate in 2007, I got into a big barney with the Tafe senior electrical teacher over certain questions. I ended up going from 65% correct to 95% correct because even the head teacher did not read and understand the question which eliminated many of their "answers". EG

What Australian Standard mandates the requirements for testing electrical circuits?
a) Electricity Act 1996
b) Electricity Regulation xyz
c) AS 3000
d) Occupational Health and Safety Act 1991

The answer of course is (c) even if you did not know the answer because the question asked for what "Standard". Acts of parliament are not standards so it eliminates most of the choices. It has worked very well for me.

Read the question objectively and look for the key words (often nouns) in the question and watch out for questions which are discrete but not obvious in the way it is written.

Good luck!!!
Darrin...

This has been an interesting thread really. I did the MC test online as part of the link above and all the subject I have studied were correct yet the one I haven't learnt as yet mixed results. The problem with the test is that I can't isolate areas of learning. That site would be good to provide MC based on current learning outcomes studied. It is only for student that are going for their final exam.

Chemistry was a bit harder as my Chemistry teacher who is trained in the East find WAIS syllabus it very different.

Darrin your was interesting in that even though I got it right before reading your answer I realised that you explanation was not how I answered it. This is the possible reading condition I am having issues with. The main reason is prior knowledge. I used to be on a Sub-Committee for AS1428.5 (part of disability access in building) which have just recently been approved; Therefore I read it wrong.

Hi everyone,

I am happy to say that I have received my first semester University results back and I am in a "Good Standing" with five level 7 results and one level 9 result.

Level IX was for Planetary Science 101 the next highest was my mathematics but slightly down on my pre-exam average. That means that I was suffering a little bit with Differential Calculus.

Unfortunately the information from the University is bit obscure and I still do not know how well I went with my Multiple choice results for Physics and Chemistry. But I have spoken to the teachers prior to the exam and they will inform me of how well I have done when I restart next semester.

I believe though that my multiple-choice has improved based on all the advice provided above as my Astronomy 101 subject had an increase in my past average before the exam that results consisted mostly multiple-choice questions which contributed to 60% of the overall mark of the exam compared to 20% for the mathematics section and 20% for the essay.

This confirms that I must have done well on the multiple-choice section and I would like to express my thanks to all the people who inputted assistance in this post for me and believe that it has made a fairly significant difference. Although I am still seeking further assistance in making sure that my results prove for this semester.
