Gotta tell you guys - I've had a look at the commercial programs that my friends have, and I'd venture to say that Stellarium beats them all. Certainly does what I want it to do at an unbeatable price (ie zero). A phenomenal program. If only it were stable on my computer!
One nice thing about CDC, it runs on almost anything.... I have it on an old 90MHz laptop with only 24meg RAM and Win98se and it runs fine.... never had a problem, a bit slow in 'animate' mode, but otherwise fine.
