That is true Joe, but if photos were never exposed to light and keep at a constant temp of some 3-4 meters underground surly we could expect a much longer period before any degrading.
I know a million is a fair stretch, so maybe half million.

Leon,
Light makes the dyes fade. You also need an oxygen free atmosphere to stop the oxidation of the paper base. Exposure to air will turn most paper brown over a period of hundreds of years.

Yea I know Joe my time capsule treasures are getting fewer and fewer, the way things are going i might have to reduce the time frame from one million to about 101 years.

Too soon to tell, I reckon. The oldest ones found are a mere 50,000 years or so.

And here in Australia, successive generations give the ancient art repeated do overs.

Hi Leon,

This may be appropriate, considering some of the references in this thread.

P.S. About time that you came to another Vic-South - they've even got a swimming pool now!

I Did think Coins would be a good first choice Trevor, however I also need something which would identify Alice and I, thanks for all the great suggestions guys.

Thanks Paul, Vic South you say, I have actually considered that a while ago, not sure how long it has been since I was there.

You could commission a sculpture of yourself and Alice…that would be pretty cool or a laser etching on a metal plate…
