Ronson, I did work my way through your suggestion and i think that actually worked.
I am using the old drive again and in Edge at least to date no pop ups, lets hope it stays that way.

Thank you to all for your much appreciated help in this matter, don't know what i would do without everyone's support.

Thank you leon

After all these hours still there has been no pop up of any sort, but as i mentioned i did what you suggested in Edge, not game to open the other browser, I think i might just remove that one altogether.

Hi Leon,

Glad the change seem to have resolved the issue. If you have another browser and the pop up appears there, then you can follow the instructions to remove the notification there. If you are worried these might appear again in the future you can disable the browser notifications prompt altogether. Here is how to for Edge: https://www.guidingtech.com/how-to-t...mobile-and-pc/

While you are at it, I recommend you install an ad blocker in your browser, if you haven’t done so already. While this won’t prevent these type of pop ups, it will decrease the chance of you clicking a flashy ad which can redirect you to these type of malicious websites. A popular one is uBlock Origin. Here is the link for the Edge version: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/...gmiehpchacaeak. It works pretty well with the default settings straight out of the box.

Safe browsing!

It says, that it can read and change all your data on all websites.
also change your private related settings.

Is that what it is suppose to do

It's totalrecaptcha.top which is a browser highjacker.

Thank You, very much and the job has been done, it seems to be fine and not a pop up to be seen not that there might be something lurking in the background.

When I get this machine back to Victoria, "home" it is going to die, as you have all said it is time to either give it all up and play pick up sticks or move on.

I have decided to move on and look at something different, what that might be I am not sure of as yet, but move on I will.

Thanks to you all for putting up with all my computer issues, you must be as sick of it as I am.

Hi Leon,

Don't scrap the PC.....Just put LINUX on it.

All the "distros" are free & open source, so are pretty much malware, virus proof.

XUBUNTU is a reasonable 1st choice or so I'm told.

Runs fine on any old/er OS's as well & come with Firefox already installed.

You can D/L the file & stick it on a USB drive, start the PC & boot to that USB drive WITHOUT installing LINUX.
You may have to set the bios to boot from the USB drive & restart the PC.

It just runs off the USB drive.

Try it out.

Takes a bit of larnin' but worth it for your safety & peace of mind.

You’ve come close, even without the use of profanities...
