Downloaded the latest java platform from the site, but did not register there as yet.

Tried the second option and vondo found nothing. I will wait and see if this thing pounces again before i take it further, the computuer is behaving again for the moment.

oh, needless to say that while you are doing this it may be best to close all background programs and disconnect from the net
