And look on the bright side, it could have been worse as I suspect you could have lost it.
I am still recovering from my back opperation and my legs still burn like crazy but I realise although it is hard to cope and difficult to get thru a day its better than a wheel chair.

Definitely going for the 2 months, have become attached to the bloody splints now...

I agree with Graham, except I'd see a plastic surgeon (preferably hand surgeon) instead of an orthopod.
