Trial Bay Aurora June 29

Down in Taz the southern sky was putting on a show for the eyes and the camera. Visual was faint greens and some hints of red, time exposure was producing some very pleasing images, cheers Graham

Amazing Graham, unfortunately we missed it in Lonnie, cloudy and light rain. I was lucky enough to see an Aurora in the 80's, at the time I didn't realise how significant the aurora was, there was strong colour to the zenith.

Nice images, I did wonder what it was like down there. It was really bright for us, so it must have been so much brighter again down where your way.

So good! Well done Graham. I know that location very well after I spent three nights there on my first trip to Tasmania hoping for a view just like that.

Thanks for all the positive comments, I must say we have been getting some great views in recent times. Last Saturday the aurora was particularly active giving visual brightness with movement visable from our study window. The image that appears to have a cloud of green was very unusual as it propagated from the west almost where the sun set and bloomed overhead quite dramaticly. The digital images are fun to download, often some real suprises. However seeing colour with the naked eye is very rewarding! cheers Graham

Stunning views. Looks like a really nice display, and well captured. I particularly like when there's a cloud or two in the foreground - gives some great perspective on how high the lights are.
