There is a group of IIS'ers who enjoy their RC choppers, so I thought i'd share our first flight expierence.
The helicopter shown below was a Birthday/Xmas gift. As mentioned in another thread, I am not really into RC but our six year old Boy's enthusiasm could not be contained any longer. This afternoon it was taken to the local footy oval for its first flight.
I was way too timid when trying get the bird to take off and the Boy thought he could do better. He thinks he knows everything at the moment, so I handed the remote to him and let him go for it.
'
Don't be upset if crashes, we can get spares,' were my last droplets of wisdom.
He proceeds to give it the berries and the chopper is flying high. Too high. Next he cuts the power and the ground is rushing up to the chopper.
'Full power,' I yell.
He saves it just in time, flies for another 30 seconds and then manages to land it on its skids.
Mum was taking video and looking after our toddler.
'See Mum, I do know everything,' says the Boy.
He then starts giving me a lesson in how to fly the helicopter. I took off and was going ok until it drifted off and I parked it in a tree.
Luckily it was fine and I let the Boy carry on until the batteries ran out.
Good fun but i'm not an RC convert. Maybe I don't have a pulse. The helicopter now belongs to my Son.
