'Too Scary'-8ft Brown Snake getting about!

Manager from local cattle station rang-said I'd better bring in a wide field lens-not sure what it was about, took camera gear in.Was rather shocked to see the cast skin of a very large brown snake of barn steps-largest either of us had ever seen-see images, they explain it better than words, there was a small 6 inch piece of tail skin missing. The third photo, shows a close up of the tail area where a six inch piece had broken off,so add that to length shown .

The book "A Complete Guide to Reptiles of Australia" by S Wilson and G Swan, says the Common Brown Snake reaches a length up to 2.2 m.That's scary enough-but this one is just too scary!

What makes him sure it belongs to a brown. Could it just be a carpet snake?

I think I would even keep my distance from that one.
We have had 4 in the last 2 months in the yard, ranging from 1m to 1.5m all went to snake heaven.

No that is a brown snake skin. Saw the same at my observatory about a week ago. Much shorter though! That is massive.

I have seen a brown about 2.2 metres, approx.

A scary beast.

Greg.
