First Attempt at a Milkyway long exposure.

http://flic.kr/p/d9dYXQ

I had seen many pictures of the milky way and central bulge and had always wanted to try and capture it, So one night I bit the bullet, set my camera up to what I thought would be the right settings to use.......including trying to work out how long I could have the exposure for before it would trail.......I'm pretty happy with the result. You can see the sign so its no secret where it was taken. Its about an hours drive from home.......... 2 hours total driving, 53 sec exposure, 5 mins to set up at location......the misses saids I was crazy. I aggreed.......should have taken the a scope with me and stayed longer....not what she meant I figured out later!!!

I posted a link to the photo in my flicker page above so you can see it full size. press "L" to get full effect. thanks for all the comments.

Great photo!

You can upload a larger photo but it has to be under 200kb or it'll get compressed.

Usually that can be around 700-800px wide for a milkyway image.

Nice shot.
The colour looks so natural, what were the settings on your camera?

Cheers Mark

Nothing crazy about that! A photo like that is worth the time. Well done. I would like to see the high res version, though.

Cheers
John
