Canon 600d clear glass mod?

Hi guys,
I'm considering removing IR cut off from my 600d and replacing with the clear glass to retain focusing ability. Then utilizing clip in filters.

I've searched the how to and it seemed more complex than I thought it would be. As I'm a bit of a klutz I'm wondering if anyone has done it and can give a heads up on how hard / 'fiddly' it actually is. And if anyone knows of any person / business undertakes this mod at a reasonable price? I've searched but couldn't really find places in Melbourne ...

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Ive done the mod before to a 350d, bit fidly at times and keeping dust free always tricky at others.

thats a guide for the 600d, gives you an idea of the steps.

Thanks Nick, great link, clearer steps than another website I checked out. They appear to nearly have 50% off conversions too.. Decisions!

I modded a 300D years ago with a Baader filter. As mentioned it is a bit fiddly, and keeping dust at bay can be tricky.
I found the fiddliest bit to be detaching/reconnecting all the ribbon connectors in tight spaces without damaging them.

The services available that do this for you are really quite well priced.

I have done two conversions myself and found dust to be the major headache. The technical aspects are not too daunting.

My most hated part was having to desolder the RF shield on the 350d. Dust wasnt a problem as I had access to a laminar flow cabinet

I have emailed two local camera places to see if they will do the work, I think I identified the right baader filter on my astro shop ~$110. I also emailed life pixel to get some more info as they don't reveal too many details, there is a 'full spectrum' option which may still have cut offs and a H-alpha astro option, again with very little detail, the way the latter is worded it sounds narrowband!

Did my 1100D and it was a piece of cake just get the correct tools and pre before you start. With the 1100D i just removed the ircut and put the LP back in, theirs no need for a clear at least for it. If your with MPA i could probably help ya out with hints at a member's night.

Dust was a problem here a little, I used zip baggies for storage as soon as the sensor was out so it didn't send that make time around dust. Luckily there was no dust between the sensor and LP when i resembled so it was an easy clean. If i was doing this on a reg basis i would make up something like they put the premature baby, aka clean room with HEPA filtration.

Thanks for the offer (I haven't checked the thread for a while) yes I am a member if the MPAS but have lined up a camera place (in melbourne) to do
the mod for me. I just haven't got the time at the moment to give it a crack! Will let you know how the conversion goes!
