You can get a small cube with 3 bubble levels in it and it attaches to the flash hotshoe on your camera. Some tripod heads have a bubble level. Or buy a circular one from Bunnings cheaply and put it on your tripod head.

I forgot my torch to set up and I couldn't see the level bubble.

Yes at 1/2 sidereal rate just at the beginning of the sequence then I stopped it because I wanted to keep the city skyline and not follow Venus.
