F1 - Spa Qualifying ONE HD 21:30 AEST 1 Sep 2012

Torrential rain limited the number of laps for teams during the two practice sessions
yesterday.

The prediction for Sunday is 19C and cloudy but given it has been wet at Spa
for four out of the last ten Grand Prix events, some wouldn't be surprised if there
was more rain. Given the large area of the circuit, a local shower at just one
part of it may even occur.

Mark Webber is not off to a good start with a five place grid penalty for a
unscheduled gearbox change. F1 regulations require gearboxes to last five
successive races.

Michael Schumacher celebrates his 300th Grand Prix weekend but didn't get off
to a good start when he was fined €2500 for not using the pit-entry road correctly.

Thanks for the update Gary. I have to wait a couple days till I get to see it. Can't wait. Been a long break. I wonder if there's any thing else can possibly go wrong for Schummy.

My fave race of the season!
A "wheat from the chaff" event.
Go Button!

Quali was unexpected! Button back on top (very happy about that), Kobayashi then Maldonado.

Me being a Ferrari fan happy with Alonso in 6th, always very consistent.

Disappointed about Massa all the way in 14th.

Enjoy the race everyone should be a good one!

The way they're lined up should make for a good race. Good to see Raikkonen up the pointy end.

Alonso was lucky to escape unharmed after the accident at La Source.

Very disappointed about Alonso.
What a bad way to end fathers day by not receiving a Ferrari victory.

I cant understand why Maldonaldo still has a seat at Williams or any F1 car.
He ought a be suspended after this weekend for sure.
I'm sick of his mistake these past 2 seasons.
He even smashes his car during demonstrations.
F1 does not need a hotshot like him.

Maldonado? He jumped the start, but by pulling into the centre between the two lines of cars, avoided contact with those ahead of him on the grid. It was Grosjean who caused the carnage, as Hamilton's in-car cam makes abundantly clear.

I don't know what to make of Grosjean, who on a number of occasions has been a revelation this season, showing himself to be surprisingly fast and capable. Unfortunately, he all too often gets carried away by over-excited, first lap madness that ends in tears for himself and/or innocent parties.

FIA investigated the Webber pit-lane release incident and will take no further action.

Carterham fined €10,000 for unsafely releasing Kovalanien into Karthikeyan.

No further action to be taken for the Schumacher/Vettel incident at the Bus Stop chicane.

Onto Monza we go this coming weekend. Another track where the first corner from the start is a tight hairpin.
