After being inspired by Alex's conjunction photos last month at The Dish I ventured out early this morning to capture it myself and I'm glad i did because cloud is forecast for the rest of the week! Actually the cloud was starting to build up as I was imaging.
I drove half an hour east of me to the Adelaide Hills along Gorge road (the exact location may get me into trouble!) to look away from the city lights. It was surprisingly dark when I arrived about 5.30am and the planets aligned with the moon looked stunning. Below are 6 images I took with my D800E and 14-24mm lens. All are straight out of the camera.
The next three, I discovered some nice blue graffiti that fitted in nicely with the blue sky. Plus there's an arrow on it pointing towards the conjunction and a little blue alien down the bottom left! I illuminated the graffiti with a small LED torch for the length of each exposure. #3 3sec, ISO 1000, f4 at 24mm #4 3sec, ISO 1000, f4 at 16mm #5 3sec, ISO 1000, f4 at 16mm
The last one I threw in because it has nice pink hues. I turned around and face the city not long after I arrived there. Thankfully I was looking at the conjunction the opposite way to this. #6 10sec, ISO 2000, f4 at 14mm
The image below is for the thumbnail and low res. Better viewed above!

Sorry the graffiti doesn't do it for me, actually ruins it I recon
Even though it doesn't feature a Geyser , sprawling old river bed or some amazing rock formation ... No2 really is very beautiful and is just about the perfect skyscape to me
