1100D lcd

Hi all. Just checking the specs between the 1100D and the 600D I see the res. on the 600D is far better. So I presume that when you zoom in to check your focus on stars or moon or whatever the 600D would be the winner? Does the low res screen on the 1100D really suck for night sky focusing or are there other options. (for focusing) Just mulling over the pros and cons.Such a big price diff. don't want to do the wrong thing, so am taking my time gathering info. Cheers.

Reality is that you should be focusing via the camera USB to a laptop screen....purely for the resolution and ability to use control/capture and focusing software like APT or BYE.

You can use the rear LCD but it's just too damn hard and gets into hard to see places as the scope moves and press the LCD enlarge buttons. Much easier to do this via software.

I would get the 600D purely from it's lower noise perspective. That said...the 1100D isn't a bad camera at all.

Either camera is good!

edit:
The winner is...1100D...$299 cheapest price (body only)

I've never focused my 1100d using the LCD screen, I always focus using either eos software or backyard eos.

$299 !!!
Best price in NZ is $550 body only, ... secondhand.
Even at current exchange rates that equates to $383 NZ plus shipping of course.
It's just about cheaper to fly across the ditch and get one !!

Thanks people. Laptop focusing it is.. I'm officially happy with the 1100D, and after seeing some of the members pics, I think it'll do me for learning on. And another good reason is JB HIFI have it with twin lens for 749 bucks. Woohooooo!!

Probably a grey import...and it's the red body version...which was released a a special collectors edition.....but I don't think they sold well.....thus the low price.

As for colour...meh all cats are grey at night!
