Ngc5128

Finally got around to processing some data from earlier in the week. This is about 2 hours on NGC5128 taken with the QHY8 and 10" Newt. I've had a few goes at this in the past year but have never been happy with the result. This one seemed to work out better than earlier attempts.

Comments welcome, thanks for looking.

Not a bad Cen A at all

You have the double lobe coming through in the bottom half, this is the first hint of the shells in the halo, nice

Looks very good, Peter! Another subtle and difficult target. Was that taken from the city?

Very nice Pete, love the star colours. Did you process this with PI?

Thanks Mike - what is the double lobe you refer to?

Cherrs Rick - yes taken from Ashgrove.

Thanks Geoff. I'm pleased with the way the stars came out. Need to rework the sky background as it looks a bit blotchy with fresh eyes. I used DSS and CS3 to process as I've been having some problems with PI working on the XP machine. Might have to get a new laptop after astrofest.

Thanks JJJ. I was hoping to see some of the blue in the galaxy dust lane however I am happy with the star colours in this one.

Really very good there Peter espically considering NGC5128 is 20million light years's away , as Nettie said the star colours of the stars in our milky galaxy are really nice , so well done.
Brian.

Very nice image Peter. Could do with a little less exposure at the core but the detail is there and we'll captured.

Brian.
Thanks Brian. It has always been one of my favorite galaxies and is well placed at this time of year given my limited horizons.

Cheers Allan - probably need to improve my processing a lot as I have plenty of subs and the majority of them look pretty good.

Amazing depth in your image Peter, and as others have said the star colours are well preserved. Thanks for the view.

Yes - it needs reprocessing.
It has a purple cast & the background is too blotchy.
Imagine what Louie could do with your data?

I missed this somehow. It's awesome! As others have said, nice star colours, and I'm surprised how much of the fainter glow you're getting out of it. Really, really nice.

It's that slight buldge on the left side of the lower half of the Halo.

I've now had another go at it from scratch and hopefully have addressed the cast and blotchy background.

Ahh - now I see it - thanks for the heads-up Mike.

Spent quite a few hours tonight reprocessing from scratch with some more subs from the subsequent night making this 38x5mins.

That's much better - I knew it was good data.
Well done - I think we would all hope to do as well.

cheers
